The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is comprised primarily of descendants of “Mdewakantonwan”, a member of the Isanti division of the Great Sioux Nation, and refer to themselves as Dakota, which means friend or ally. The Flandreau Santee Sioux Indian Reservation is 2,500 acres of land located along and near the Big Sioux River in Moody County, South Dakota, in a region known as the Prairie Coteau, which consists primarily of undulating or gently rolling land.

Story

Native Nations Cannabis

Native Nations Cannabis – South Dakota (NNC–SD) is a fully vertically integrated cannabis operation located on the sovereign land of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. Owned and operated by the Tribe, NNC–SD made history as the first cannabis operation in South Dakota, opening to the public on July 1, 2021—an entire year before the launch of any state-licensed facility. Their ability to operate independently from state licensure stems from the Tribe’s sovereign status, which allows for self-governance and regulatory autonomy.

When ICH Industries was founded, its leadership—motivated by a commitment to supporting Native enterprise—sought to partner with a Tribal entity. As a Native individual himself, Buster recognized both the success and integrity of NNC–SD’s model. Inspired by their vertically integrated approach and early success, he envisioned replicating that framework in New York.

Today, ICH Industries produces Native Nations Cannabis (NNC) products in New York, combining the operational expertise and brand foundation developed in South Dakota with high-quality, locally grown New York flower. This partnership bridges Tribal knowledge, industry experience, and local cultivation to deliver premium cannabis products to the New York market.
